After a little over a week at the shop, the Dumpster Fire is done. We had a little misunderstanding where they “fixed” the starter by putting back all the wiring I had removed, so we lost a day of work to that (which they didn’t charge me for). Their c900 guy came in today and finished the job.

While it seems like whatever caused the starter to freak out went away once it cooled down, there is a 0% chance I’d trust that starter again, so $500 later it is out and a Bosch branded one is in.

On the downside, the Volvo is acting up again and is going to have to go in to the dealer for repair on Thursday. Also my warranty expires Thursday. *gulp*

Yup 2008 9-3 Aero 2.8T. I was driving to the airport one morning for work and I started to smell something burning. I got out but  didn’t smell it outside the car. (This wasn’t unusual because t he car always smelled like burning/melted cheap  plastic the whole three years I owned it). Kept driving and about two miles down the road I saw a glow from underneath the hood. Pulled over to turn around (and go where?? I was panicking lol) and realized the danger and put it in park. I grabbed my suitcase and back pack and called 911.

I definitely miss it. It was way faster than something with only 250hp/258lb-ft had any right to be. The 2.8T is absolutely shoehorned into the engine bay.
